Our
Packaging (through Pharmapac)
The packaging of our products is essential for maintaining the quality of our ingredients. We must also meet regulations to ensure our products are tamper-proof. At the same time, we recognise there are increasing environmental considerations from consumers around plastic packaging.
GO Healthy products are packaged in plastics #2 or #5, which are recommended for use in packaging by WasteMinz, the Ministry for the Environment and the Prime Minister's report, ‘Rethinking Plastics in New Zealand’. Both these plastic types are 100% recyclable. More and more on-shore recycling solutions are coming on stream in New Zealand, to ensure these high-quality plastics remain in circulation.
For example, a new optical sorter that has been installed at Visy Recycling’s plant in Onehunga now enables Auckland to separate and recycle all of polymers #2 and #5 locally. More recycling facilities around New Zealand will be equipped with these optical sorters to increase the collection of recyclable plastics.
GO Healthy partners with Pharmapac, because of their commitment to developing fit-for-purpose packaging solutions, while also embracing sustainability.
Pharmapac’s sustainability credentials are first class. They are the only packaging manufacturer in New Zealand to achieve Toitū Enviromark Diamond Certification, in recognition of their environmental management practices throughout their operations. Toitū Enviromark Diamond meets and exceeds the requirements for ISO 14001, the international standard for environmental management.
Pharmapac is also Operation Clean Sweep certified, an international standard designed to achieve zero resin pallet, flake and powder loss from the manufacturing process to avoid it escaping into marine environments. Pharmapac is a Zero Net Waste (manufacturing waste) and Socially Sustainable Manufacturer, and they have committed to the New Zealand 2025 plastic packaging declaration.
We will continue to work with Pharmapac on providing sustainable solutions for our customers and consumers.
